It is really rare to have a Sunday
as the first day on job, isn't it?
As I said earlier,
I was selected as a Freelance Tour Leader
by Go Travellism.
My first event was Waterfall Rappelling
at Dhodani Waterfall near Panvel.
I woke up at 4 AM and made lunch to carry.
My dear husband dropped me at the train station early morning.
During the train travel, I was preparing my introduction as a leader to the fellow travelers.
Although I had done it a thousand times in past, being a leader was completely new.
I had to make a good first impression.
Standing on Panvel station,
waiting for everyone to come,
I had butterflies in my stomach.
Honestly, they weren't really butterflies,
but some horrid creatures making stupid noises.
Oh Yes, I was hungry too!
And then, the first two travelers reached ..
The guy was trying to call me to ask where I was and
the girl with him pointed towards me
saying she must be Samiksha!
Oh boy, was I flattered!
That was the moment when all my fears went away,
about making an impression.
The recognition as a leader was enough!
Now, it was just a 1 hour hike really,
to reach the top of waterfall.
It's like nothing compared to the treks I have done;
yet my legs were shaking and aching as hell.
After a while, I noticed that I had crunched my legs
through out the hike out of fear.
Fear of the responsibility I had on my shoulders..
Responsibility of about 27 people...
Yes, they were all adults and strong and careful for their lives.
But I was being my Mother while telling them,
not to wander,
not to go near water bodies,
to hold hands and form a chain
while crossing flowing water streams.
Even when everyone was done with the rappelling activity
and I was the last one to go down,
I didn't have the fear of falling off the edge,
I was feeling extreme peer pressure..
that I will look foolish if I slip or fall while rappelling!
It was the very first time in my life ,
when I was scared of looking foolish.
Any way, I did pretty good,
considering it was my first day!
And honestly speaking,
I loved all the attention.
So, that's it !
Looking forward for more events for now!
